October 4, 2014: Chef Jim Copening of Arts and Eats, a restaurant in the Village of the Arts, kicks off the Chef at the Market program on opening day.

 

October 11, 2014: Chef Guy Cannata of Ortygia, a restaurant in the Village of the Arts, is well known for serving Monzu cuisine, a hybrid of Sicilian-French cooking that dates back to Napoleon’s time.

 

November 8, 2014: Sandbar, Beachhouse and Mar Vista owner Ed Chiles.

 

December 13, 2014: Chef Jamie Gregorich, Culinary Instructor at Manatee Technical Institute.

Foodie at the Market

 

Foodie at the Market is featured on the fourth Saturday of each month at the corner of 4th Ave. West and Old Main Street. Foodie at the Market showcases local residents who love to cook using local produce and food products

 

This program and the Chef at the Market program are coordinated through a partnership with the Bradenton Herald Wednesday Cooking With feature.

Mainly Art

 

Every third Saturday, Mainly Art hosts dozens of local artists and craftspeople displaying and selling their creations.  Art, crafts, live music, and food are available from 9am to 2pm on Fourth Avenue West where it connects with the weekly Bradenton Farmers’ Market on Main Street.  To learn more about Mainly Art Vendors, go to the “Vendors” link on the left side of the screen.

October 4, 2014: Celebrate National Fossil Day with South Florida MuseumKids can get their hands dirty as they search for locally found fossils. Search for ancient bones and teeth in the Fossil Dig.  

 

October 11, 2014: Casting Call for the Junior League of Manatee County’s American Girls Fashion Show. Girls may apply for the American Girls Fashion Show and receive a gift. Also, Manatee County Health Department, healthy eating. 

 

October 18, 2014: Get 2 Zero Photo Booth by Hope Family Services.

 

October 25, 2014: Creative Learning Station with the Manatee LibrariesManacon Art with manga-style art demonstrations, an interactive art workshop, and Manacon and Star Wars coloring sheets for the little ones.

 

November 1, 2014Paint a bowl to feed the hungry with the Food Bank of Manatee. All bowls will be donated to the Empty Bowl Luncheons program.

November 8, 2014: Manatee County Natural Resources Cornhole Game highlighting wildlife species native to our area: Osprey, Grey Fox, Gopher Tortoise, Florida Panther, American Alligator, Florida Scrub Jay, and Barred Owl, Monarch Butterfly, and more.

 

Also on November 8th, FDOT’s Central Manatee Network Alternatives Analysis Study. Find out about the area included in this study and complete a survey to help identify the area's transportation needs.

 

November 22, 2014: Creative Learning Station with the Manatee LibrariesThe Blues, featuring a story time with blues-themed books and a musician from the Suncoast Blues Society who will perform and share information about the blues.

 

December 6, 2014: Go on a scavenger hunt with the Manatee Historical Village. With an activity sheet and a keen set of eyes, you can gain clues to the past lives of Old Main Street’s historic buildings. Then, take a gander at some household items from the past and try to guess what they were used for. You can also see how far a dollar used to stretch by comparing items from the 1897 Sears & Roebuck catalog with their modern prices.

 

December 27, 2014: Creative Learning Station with the Manatee LibrariesLibrarian Foodie! As the holiday season continues, cookbooks and books about entertaining will be available to check out, well as samples of some of the appetizers and desserts featured in the books. There will also be children's craft books and supplies and materials available for children to make crafts. 

 

January 3, 2015: ArtCenter Manatee will help you put your creativity to work by helping you create and embellish your very own creature or pet made out of sea shells. For ages 2-99 years!

 

February 7, 2015: The Pittsburgh Pirates and Bradenton Marauders will be kicking off their Spring Training Season with activities and giveaways. Come celebrate the return of baseball in March with Pirates players and staff, and get all the information you need for the 2015 season!

 

March 7, 2015: Dress Up with Manatee Performing Arts CenterCome play dress up with the Manatee Players! Colorful costumes, fun accessories and a photo booth to capture the moment promises to be tons of fun for your little one! 

 

April 4, 2015: Calling all puppet makers, young and old alike! The The Village of the Arts tent will have a puppet-making station. Come make a small puppet and then 'ham it up' on our puppet stage!
