Trekking Along

The Riverwalk is a great place to be if you’re a fan of the outdoors, and it has something for everyone. In addition to a 1.5-mile paved walking path along the Manatee River, you will find public art, a playground and splashpad for the kids, and the ‘outdoor living room,’ which provides comfortable seating with a great view.

blues-fest.jpgLive music events draw locals by the thousands and the Riverwalk hosts many of Bradenton’s most well-attended shows of the year, including Music in the Park in the spring and the Bradenton Blues Festival, which occurs the first weekend in December (www.BradentonBluesFestival.org).

To learn more about the Riverwalk, go to www.WalkBradenton.com and click the green “GO” button on the home screen; from the neighborhood menu select RIVERWALK. The site will find you and show you all there is to see and do along the Riverwalk or click the search icon and type “Mosaic Amphitheater,” or “Bradenton Blues Fest” in the search box and the appropriate information will appear.

amphiteater.jpgThe Riverwalk skatepark is another great feature that many skaters and boarders enjoy. The 15,000 square foot park is lighted at night and provides incredible views of the Manatee River. Whether you’re a skater or just an observer, the skatepark is definitely a must see.

If you decide to drive your vehicle to the Riverwalk, there are free parking spaces available. To find out where to park go to www.WalkBradenton.com and press the green GO button. Look for yellow “P” icons on the map.
