Riverwalk FAQ


The Basics

What are the park hours?
The Riverwalk is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Where can I find directions to the Riverwalk?
Directions and a Google map link are located on the Realize Bradenton website on the left side of the Riverwalk section.

Where can I find parking for the Riverwalk?
A printable parking map is at the bottom left of the Realize Bradenton website.

What should I do if I see dangerous or criminal activities taking place?
Two full-time police officers patrol the Riverwalk and nearby downtown locations day and night. Call the Bradenton Police non-emergency number 941-932-9300 or dial 911 whenever you see dangerous or suspicious activity.

Where are public restrooms located?
The bathrooms at the Pavilion and Event Area are opened from 7:00am to 11:00pm and bathrooms at the Skate Park are open 24 hours.

Who do I call if something in the park needs maintenance or cleaning?
Call our Public Works and Utilities Department day or night. The number is: 941-708-6300. Please try to be as specific with your comments as possible.

Park Usage

Is camping allowed at the Riverwalk?
Camping, which includes sleeping in certain circumstances, is not allowed in the park per Bradenton City Ordinance.

Are alcoholic beverages allowed in the park?
Consumption of alcoholic beverages is not allowed anywhere on the Riverwalk except during approved and permitted events.  

Can bikes be ridden on the Riverwalk?  
Bikes are allowed; however, bike riders must avoid pedestrians.  Bikes are not allowed in the Splash Pad.

Where can dogs go on the Riverwalk?
Leashed dogs are allowed at the Riverwalk. Dog owners must pick up their animals’ wastes. Disposal bags are located along the walkway.

Are cooking grills allowed on the Riverwalk?
Cooking grills are not allowed.

Are vehicles allowed on the Riverwalk?
No motorized vehicles are allowed on the Riverwalk unless approved.

Event Questions

Where can I learn about what events are happening on the Riverwalk?
An electronic calendar is available in the Calendar section of the Realize Bradenton website.

Can spaces in the park be reserved?  
Riverwalk procedures and policies for applying for event permits are currently under development. Check back to the Realize Bradenton website at a later date for more information. Small gatherings, such as birthday parties or family gatherings, can be held in public spaces. Tents must be weighted and tent stakes are not allowed.

Activity Questions

What are the hours of operation of the Splash Pad?
The Splash Pad water runs 9:00am to 8:00pm except when it is turned off for maintenance. Use the Splash Pad at your own risk.

Is there an age limit for the Splash Pad?  
There is no age limit for using the Splash Pad. However, behavior that is dangerous or inappropriate in the presence of young children will not be tolerated.

Water is a limited resource. Is the Splash Pad wasting water?
The water feature uses a modern, energy efficient design. It treats and recycles an underground tank of water and therefore does not waste water.

When can beach volley ball be played?
Beach volley ball can be played at any time on a first come, first serve basis. However, there are currently no lights in the evening.

What are the responsibilities of Skate Park users?
Everyone who uses the skatepark does so at their own risk. This includes observers and people using the Skate Park facility.
Skate Park users are expected to help keep the park safe, clean, and friendly.
Users must act within their individual abilities to control their equipment and not place themselves or others at risk of injury.
It is highly recommended that users wear protective gear including helmets, knee and elbow pads.

Where else can skateboards be used?
Skateboard riding is not allowed anywhere on the Riverwalk except at the Skate Park per City Ordinance.
Where is the parking for the kayak/canoe launch?  
Kayaks and canoes can be unloaded at curbside.


Can I be a food or merchandise vendor on the Riverwalk?
The City of Bradenton is updating the policies related to food trucks and food and merchandise vendors and we will have more information on in this FAQ section in the near future.
